Genealogy (Love of the Hunt)

Still continuing on with Google Searches!   IMAGINATION - Think like someone who would post a web page with the kind of information you are looking for.   Think like a genealogist for charts and reports.   Think like a librarian when searching for books.   You get my gist.   Good Luck   cg

Genealogy (Love of the Hunt)

Back to Google for Genealogy - Number range is two dots between two dates.   Example John Doe 1865 .. 1890 will give you results about John Doe between 1865 and 1890.

Link Search - This is a great search.   Okay, you have found a great genealogy website all about your family line.  Lets see who else is interested in your line too?   Do a search using the term Link: and you will get a list of web pages that have links to that site.   Example...Link:www.glasgowfamilywebsite.com.  Note no spaces at all between words.   cg

Genealogy (Love of the Hunt)

Hello everyone.  I have been doing the Free Friday Genealogy Question for quite some time.   If you have a question just comment the question to me and I'll reply as soon as I can.   To continue with the Google Search operators:   ~ tilde sign, this operator's used for synonym.  U put ~ tilde in front of ur search term and it will give u synonyms of that word.   Example:   train ~ history would give results of railroad history, railroad past.   Also glasgow ~ genealogy would bring u results of Glasgow family tree, Glasgow and family history and even Glasgow surname.   Try it and see what u get!    cg

Genealogy (Love of the Hunt)

... numrange search gives u a range between dates.   Ex....John Doe 1765...1830.   Also, after u make this search keep track of it with a google alert.   U ask?   What is a google alert?

Not = (-) minus sign in front of word or phrase indicates that u don't want it.   Ex...Lincoln - Abraham.   U want all the Lincoln but not Abraham Lincoln.  cg
