Genealogy (Love of the Hunt)

We are still updating you on the 1940 Census release.   Ancestry.com is free till April 10.   They announced that all states will be available by the close of  Friday.   You can check to see if your state is complete by going into Ancestry.com/1940 census.  Just a reminder, the census is not indexed yet.   You will have to know the address that your ancestors lived at so that you can find their enumeration district.   You will then have to go line by line to find them.   Just a few tidbits:   the X by the name means that this is the person who gave the information to the enumerator.  If you do not find your ancestor at the address you expected them to be at, try looking at the end of the census pages.   If they were not home, the enumerator went back and recorded them at the end.  cg
